- Clivia miniata Solomone's "Watercolor Washed Pastel"
Photo © 2006 by Shields Gardens Ltd.
These are Solomone's equivalent of the Conway Particolored varieties. Mature, bloom-sized plants, selected after their first blooms for color and pattern. The "Watercolor Washed" lines (pink and pastel) are characterized by having bitone petals and sepals. That is, the pink or apricot color on the petals is darker in some areas, lighter in others. (The Watercolor Washed Pink are lighter in color overall.)
Cat. no. 2176 -- 2-gallon size plant @ US$175.00 per plant, plus shipping & handling. All plants shipped bare root.
- Clivia "Snowball" from Jim Holmes in South Africa.

- Clivia miniata "Solomone Pastel"

From Joe Solomone, the well-known breeder in Monterey, California, come these pastel-flowered Clivias. Flowers can range from salmon-pink to apricot to pink to light orange in color. Plants to ca. 30 inches high. Blooming size.
Catalog no. 1825 -- 2-gallon size plant @ $50.00 plus shipping & handling. All plants shipped bare-root.
- Clivia miniata Murillo Pastel seedlings
These are unbloomed seedlings from Victor Murillo's breeding program. The plants have 6 to 10 leaves (most have 8 leaves). They should bloom in another two years. Flowers could range from salmon-pink to apricot to pink to light orange in color.
Catalog no. 2130 -- ca. 1/2-gallon size @ $35.00 plus shipping & handling. All plants shipped bare-root.
- Clivia miniata "Solomone Light Peach"
These are light peach or pale apricot flowers. The plants are moderately large, with leaves that are 24 to 30 inches long and medium-broadleaf (2"-3" wide). These were selected for color when the plants bloomed for the first time, so all have bloomed at least one time already. Grown from seed, they will be somewhat variable in flower size, form, and color.
Catalog no. 2153 -- ca. 2-gallon size @ $120.00 plus shipping & handling. All plants shipped bare-root.
- Clivia miniata citrina "Solomone Yellow"
The very well-known light-yellow flowered strain from Joe Solomone. These are plants grown from his own seed by Joe in his 3-acre greenhouse in Watsonville, California. All are blooming size, having already started to show scapes or even to begin blooming when received in Spring 2005. We think that these are all Group 1 Yellows, but that is not a proven fact.
Catalog no. 1803 -- 1-gallon size plant @ $45.00 plus shipping & handling. All plants shipped bare root.
Catalog no. 1804 -- 2-gallon size plant @ $60.00 plus shipping & handling. All plants shipped bare root.
- Clivia miniata "Solomone Red"
These rich red-orange flowers tend toward the tulip shape seen in so many reds. The leaves are broadleaf, 2¼ inches wide to 2¾ inches wide. These are larger plants, very much like the yellows and the pastels. All are blooming size, having already begun blooming when received in Spring 2007.
Catalog no. 2074 -- 2-gallon size plant @ $60.00 plus shipping & handling. All plants shipped bare root.
- Clivia miniata citrina "Solomone Cream"
There are cream colored flowers with yellow to yellow-orange to mustard throats. The plants are moderately large, with leaves that are 24 to 30 inches long and medium-broadleaf (2"-3" wide). They were in bloom when we selected them a month ago, but none is still in bloom. Solomone plants are all seed-grown plants that were selected by color when in bloom. The youngest of them bloomed in 2004 for the first time, making them at least 4 years old today. Most in the 2-gal. size are probably 5 to 7 years old and have bloomed up to three years. This applies to all the Solomone plants we sell at the 2-gal. size. We were tempted to call these "near-white;" but they are just not "white" at all. "Cream" seems the best label, better than "ivory" in my opinion.
Catalog no. 2097 -- 2-gallon size plant @ $50.00 plus shipping & handling. All plants shipped bare root.
