The Aroid Family: Araceae

The Araceae is the family of aroid and related plants. Members of the Order Arales, the aroids are mostly rhizomatous plants, although some have a corm or tuber. (Discussion based on V.H. Heywood, "Flowering Plants of the World" Mayflower Books, New York, 1978.)

The genus Arisaema contains the "Jack in the Pulpits" found around the world in the Northern Hemisphere.

The genus Zantedeschia contains the Calla lilies.

Other genera in the Aroid Family include Amorphophallus, Arisarum, and Arum.
